Sick Girl

I started to feel crappy on Tuesday so over 48 hours I had:

Yet here I am with a cold/flu/nastiness. So I'm on my couch being moany and snotty and generally hating the world.

It's been a while since I had my last comment contest, so comment with your best under-the-weather treat or cold remedy and one winner will win:

Much to NBH's dismay, I watched my favorite 1980's movie in bed last night and it could be yours if you are lucky!

It's a bit late for you now but when I feel a cold coming on I take a tablet or two of Echinacea (the tablets are much better in my opinion that the solution which you mix with water. The Jan de Vries ones work best for me. If I take it the day I start feeling rubbish it never develops into a full cold and is usually gone in a day or two. But I only postpone illnesses this way occasionally and when I get a cold, I just go through it to boost my immune system. Suffice to say that after this winter my immune system should be mighty strong. :)

When I am sick and need to feel a bit better or need some soothing I reach for the lemsip.

My best cold remedy is lots of chicken noodle soup, tea, and sitting on the couch watching Gilmore Girls while making DH do the household chores.

Well, I don't have any great cold remedies other than staying in bed all day with lots of lucozade orange (the only kind that I can stomach) and some crisps and chocolate. Crisps and chocolate 1. taste great together and 2. the salty crisps always feel good when i am sick. That and make Colin wait on you - that is sure to make you feel better soon :)

ps: i am totally jealous, I crave that mango innocent smoothie all the time. I may have to find a way to recreate it on this side of the Atlantic.

I love that movie!!! I'm surprised by how many people don't know about it!

For me, the best illness cure is a box of macaroni and cheese (eaten directly out of the pan, while watching The Little Mermaid on the could, wearing my pageant crown.

I'm assuming that being unshowered, in my PJ's, and watching some white trash TV like Judge Judy and Supermarket Sweep is a given, right?

I drown my sorrows in Nyquil (Mom ships it over) and make DH give me lots of backrubs while I sit in the tub with the shower going.

I'm with the others- pj's on sofa in front of the telly with lots of tea and soup! If you start to feel congested I like the sudafed plug in vaporiser, esp if you have a plug near your head. I also tend to take lots of Emergen-C.

If Girls Just Want to Have Fun doesn't make you feel better, watch The Allnighter!!

Feel better soon. My best remedy is long baths or showers, and sweatpants. And I used to have massive amounts of Sprite or Seven Up because the bubbles feel nice.

And honestly don't know how you do those wheatgrass shots. If it were up to me, that would be the cause of all illness, and I'd be healthy all the time :)

Hope you are feeling better today! My combo is:
- sports drink
- candied ginger (great for upset stomach as well as heating up the system when you're cold)
- hot tea with honey
- comfort food (I tend to like doritos or popcorn, but that's me)
- a hot bubble bath
- pj's
- snuggling under a warm cover while watching 80's cheese!

Dude, a hot toddy, of course! Whisky, hot water, lemon and honey. Honestly, it works!
